Monday May 06, 2024

Tuesday Apr 02, 2024
Get comfy and let’s unpack it, there’s a lot happening there and if you do not think it affects you, well, you’re wrong and it will do so even more soon. Check out this episode of Sound of Black and Brown, "Karenism is Not Leadership”. Besties, we started the convo about Black women on the job and why we should all be mad at all who led #DrAntoinetteBailey to #Suicide. We said very clearly, Stop Destroying Black Women, but why is it so hard to stop? What’s the modern chain? The Karens are in full effect and the impact is serious, but how far does it all have to go before it’s realized it has been far for too long? We talked about why this convo needs to be happening especially in Black communities, and we started talking about why representation matters in leadership. We talked a bit about adult bullying from the streets to leadership #Justice4Bonnie. Well let’s continue that talk and keep in mind how impactful our people have been before slavery, during slavery and after in paving ways, creating, pioneering, leading #CLRJames #DrEricWilliams If you’re learning or relearning or facing parts of Blackness and Black history you didn't know existed, we are glad to be here to help you do that.
Black and Brown women are Queens, Leaders, Life,

There is so much to unpack, we tried to cover as much as we could particularly in terms of what is not happening to improve the cost and standard of living in our Black and Brown communities.

Adult Bullying is as Old as Slavery

Get comfy and let’s unpack it, there’s a lot happening there and if you do not think it affects you, well,u you’re wrong and it will do so even more soon. Check out this episode of Sound of Black and Brown, "Adult Bullying is as Old as Slavery”. Tune in listen as thoughts are shared. Kids aren’t bullies just like that, it’s learned behavior and believe it or not, it's a tale as old as slavery. Capitalism feeds off of Darwinism, and that can happen in spaces that should be about the people, that should be about providing services and access, that fight for equity and humanity, how can there be a power struggle dynamic there? Why would there be ego and agenda in that work you ask? And why would people doing that be so bold as to lead movements, causes, nonprofits, make key decisions for the people posing as well doers, but yet finding the time to bully people? Is that really a thing? Well, clutch your good pearls, get offended on your own time because collaborative capitalism is very real and it’s fueled by a lot of isms including racism, sexism, victim shaming and oh, so much more…

Capitalism is Collaborative
Tuesday Jan 30, 2024
Tuesday Jan 30, 2024
Get comfy and let’s unpack it, there’s a lot happening there and if you do not think it affects you here, well, you’re wrong and it will do so even more soon. On this episode of Sound of Black and Brown, "Capitalism is Collaborative”. Tune in, listen as thoughts are shared. Black people do self harm, resist recovery treatment, drop out of school, but also why there’s adult bullying, discrimination and bias in supposedly anti-racist spaces including activism, advocacy, nonprofits and government. But why would those people exploit those in need, empower only who they like and support only who they approve of? Sounds kinda…capitalistic, because it is. Ego and agenda have always been the oppressor’s favorite tools and don’t think saying you’re progressive or democratic means you really care. Although Dr. Antoinette Bailey was phenomenal in her role, she had to be badly reviewed, and apparently nobody cared too much about her mental wellness while she was being bullied, gatekept and gaslit. How many more before people say and really mean #NotOneMore? Wonder what Tupac or Fred Hampton would say about it all.
Also, if you were not aware, despite the aforementioned groups claiming to be socio-economically vested, in truth, capitalism works well with Darwinism so as in other economic stances, they now survive to be the fittest, by any means necessary. An influential line of analysis suggests that the best way to improve that performance is to allocate more resources via markets and intensify competition in them, following a path blazed by the United States. The argument is that greater prosperity can be secured only at the cost of higher inequality.
But why would people exploit those in need, empower only who they like and support only certain programs and initiatives? Why would they say they’re all about humanity, health, wellness, justice, community, all those things and more, but bully, gaslight and gatekeep some in the community because they deserved it? Then show up at talks, webinars, rallies etc holding up signs, talking righteous, seeking spotlight and recognition. Sounds kinda…capitalistic, because it is. Ego and agenda have always been the oppressor’s favorite tools and don’t think saying you’re progressive or democratic means you really care. If you haven’t lately, look into all the support services and opportunities from recovery houses, to homeless shelters, food pantries, schools and extracurricular programs and activities which have lost and continue to lose funding, as well as the jobs lost.

Sunday Jan 28, 2024
Get comfy and let’s unpack it, there’s a lot happening there and if you do not think it affects you here, well, you’re wrong and it will do so even more soon. On this episode of Sound of Black and Brown, "Dying on Their Own Terms”. Tune in using this link ,listen as thoughts are shared about suicide in Black communities and check out some articles on the topic, including below the episode. Suicide, infanticide, and self-mutilation were all documented in slavery, but still remains understudied. Believe it or not, when Black people die, the diaspora is disrupted, so imagine the impact when influential Black people die. Notable Black icons, such as Halle Berry, Alicia Keyes, Fantasia, battled with depression and suicidal thoughts. Did you know that studies show that suicide has increased in Black communities over the last five years? Dr. Antoinette Candia-Bailey’s suicide matters. Lisa Left Eye’s suicide matters. Jimi Hendrix’s death was officially ruled an accidental overdose. #Justice4Bonnie #SayHerName #DrAntoinetteCandiaBailey #firemoseley Why does that loss and the loss of news anchor Christine Chubbuck matter when talking about peer support, what is that? Why did Taraji P. Henson, mention the importance of peer support when sharing her suicide scare?
